Welcome from the Lincoln School of Film & Media. The LSFM Network Blog is an approved research development project at the University of Lincoln. It started as an alumni weblog, which was set up by two Senior Lecturers at the School, and it has successful grown to include fantastic student stories as well as staff ones, too.
Our aims are to help our former and current students to keep in touch with the School and each other, and to reflect the realities of life after graduation. Since we started in 2009-2010 a genuine network has developed organically, to the benefit of students, staff and graduates. Of course other genuine contributors are welcome too – from employers to anyone with an interest in media production. We also scan the trade press and tap into other sources to include posts about jobs, other developments in the media industries and LSFM news. Follow our alumni feed on Twitter @LSMAlumni
A message from Dr. Sarah Barrow, Head of School:
Publishing policy.
a) Stories
All stories submitted for publication should conform to our blog guidelines. We aim to publish your stories with as little editing as possible. Copyright in your story remains yours. If third party copyright material is included, we assume it has been cleared, but we may check before we publish. We do check out web links but we cannot accept any responsibility for their content or functionality. We will not publish your contact details unless you ask us to. We do our best to check that opportunities (i.e. jobs, internships etc.) and news items we publish are genuine, but we cannot accept responsibility for any outcome of publication.
b) Comments.
Genuine comments are welcomed from anyone, provided that they also conform to the LLL Community guidelines (see above.) Web links in comments are carefully checked; unless their relevance to the post concerned is evident, they will not be published. Comments which appear to be motivated by commercial gain will not be published.
Alumni Story Advice.
Aim to be engaging, clear and concise. Try not to be too influenced by other story writers – do your own thing. Please send a headline picture of yourself with your story, and any other pictures, video or audio links or files. (But be careful about copyright!) Remember to tell us which year you graduated. Feel free to offer advice to students (and staff!) Your story does not have to be a success story; problematic experiences are also valuable.
