Congratulations LSFM alumnus Joel Murray, digital marketing co-ordinator (left on photo,) and Visit Lincoln for winning Innovation in Tourism at the Lincolnshire Technology and Innovation Awards 2018 (7th June). University of Lincoln School of Film & Media 2011 graduate, also our industry mentor, said he was delighted on receiving this accolade:

I led on the project, with my background in digital, so am particularly happy! At Visit Lincoln we managed to get some funding from a central government pot to develop a project aimed at millennial travellers in the US to encourage them to explore England outside of London – there is more to the country than the capital! We did this in a group we are part of called England’s Historic Cities, and that’s the name of the app we created which is available to download on iOS and Android for free.

The idea of the app is the bring history to life using new technology. We worked with Lincoln Cathedral to come up with stories about its history as told by famous Lincolnshire explorer Joseph Banks.  Continue reading

James WaddellThe first offer came during a meeting with the head of CITV in London. I had interviewed him for my dissertation and wanted to let him know that I had received a first and to also thank him for his involvement. In an email he had mentioned “if you are ever in London…” well I took that literally and went to see him! At the end our our chat he offered me a role as an assistant cameraman on a new series.  I actually turned this job down and took a job at Sky as I thought this role would give me more experience during the long term. Within 6 months I was trained to be a vision mixer, a route I knew to being a director.  Continue reading

Headspace 2015 Industry Event | Lincoln School of Film & Media

Today’s HEADSPACE was LSFM’s on-campus industry event organised by Senior Lecturer Zara Healy. Our Visiting Professor Trevor Dann opened the day. He introduced industry guests, who were primarily our alumni and BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Managing Editor Charlie Partridge. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain an insight into the range of employment after graduation. Work can be in many forms as our graduates shared why they started their own media businesses; how to leap from local radio into local telly as well as network TV; and doing forms of digital media to pursue their passions.  Here are some moments captured at Headspace 2015 – networking and socialising.

Chris Bingham, Class of 2011 | Vlogger on Uni lectures at NCH

ChristopherBingham_NCHvideoOur 2011 graduate Christopher Bingham, known as Bing, is a YouTube vlogger and comedian who was commissioned by New College of the Humanities (NCH) to produce an alternative view about University lectures. He said: As anyone who’s been working with YouTube for a while knows, operating on the channel prolifically involves getting a lot of offers from brands, but in this case I was able to really get behind the product.  I’m very passionate about learning, not just through higher education, but throughout every stage of life. I had a lot of fun working with NCH on producing a script that I know my audience will enjoy, but also that will help them to think about the merits of higher education.
