Latest from Lincoln Students’ Union (Dan Derricot):
“You may be aware that local MP Karl McCartney has pulled out of his constituency advice surgery tomorrow at the last minute, in an attempt to avoid his constituents expressing their concern at his support for tripling tuition fees, slashing public funding and abolishing Education Maintenance Allowance.
We refuse to not have our voices listened to, so we will be postponing tomorrow’s event and doubling our efforts next Wednesday – the day before MPs are expected to vote on whether to increase the cap on fees to an astonishing £9,000!
Therefore, we ask you to join us next Wednesday instead, outside the SU’s SOAP Centre at 1.00pm”
Previous notice:
“As the successful series of peaceful action continues against cuts to education funding and against tripling tuition fees, we are pleased to announce our next event which is set to be the biggest and most powerful seen in Lincoln for years.”
Today all UL campuses are closed, and I have just heard on the news that the Lincoln Christmas market has been cancelled. As Lincoln has been particularly badly hit by the arctic weather, I suggest it would be a good idea to check the SU website before the event. If we hear of any change, I’ll update the post.
