The Lincoln School of Media is hosting the first ever Lincolnshire Film Academy, in association with CfBT Education Services, funded by the British Film Institute, and with support from a range of top industry professionals, including Electric Egg
18 young people from around the region have been selected to participate in 9 weeks of intensive training, seminars and workshops on film production at the end of which they’ll have produced their own high quality film using our own HD TV Studio and some amazing new kit. They will all also have the chance to apply for the national Talent Campus being held at the National Film and TV School over Easter. Read more about the scheme.
The university was selected as one of 24 partners to deliver the nine-week BFI Film Academy course, in partnership with CfBT Education Services. Local actor, Lincolnshire Awards for Film Teamwork and Achievement (LAFTAs) patron and Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA winning actor Jim Broadbent, is supporting the Academy.
Applicants were chosen based on their demonstration of creative aptitude and enthusiasm for the film industry. They are making their own short film which will be showcased at this year’s LAFTAs Film Awards, to be held at Lincoln Engine Shed on October 14.

This represents recognition of the School’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence for film education and training, our commitment to giving young people the best opportunities in film production, and our established work with schools and colleges. It is fantastic that teenagers from around the region and beyond will be able to experience the art of film-making and learn from industry-leading experts.
We are also pleased to be able to involve some of our existing students in the programme, so that they are able to pass on the benefit of their own experiences and add something really valuable to their own CVs. It will be a wonderful experience for everyone involved.”
