Epix Media double with LSM Interns

LSM’s 2007 graduates Zoe Easey and Will King are co-directors at Epix Media in Lincoln. The creative business has doubled its turnover and its staff. Well done!

Zoe and Will

Senior Web Developer Zoe established the business in 2010.  A year later, Will  joined as a Videographer.  They say the “Uni-factor” has come into play, because the School of Media is where their first employees have come from:

Our creative business Epix Media has crowned a hectic six months by doubling its team where we’ve recruited two interns from the Lincoln School of Media. We’re particularly pleased to have been able to offer internships to ambitious young people who’re keen to work within the highly competitive media sector. Welcome to Stefania Palmisano (MA in Media Production) and Sam Kelham (BA in Media Production).

Stef said: “Joining Epix as a Video Production Assistant means a lot to me. It has made the transition from being a university student to joining the world of work, in an industry where it is hard to find openings, much easier.  In many cases someone like myself is faced with a ‘Catch 22’ situation.  I have qualifications, but not lots of experience. I’m keen to continue learning with Epix.”

Sam said: “I had previously done work experience with Epix. I’ve literally just finished my degree course, but when I heard about the internship opportunity I was immediately interested. Getting the job of Junior Web Developer is a great start for me.”

Lincoln School of Media Dr Sarah Barrow: “This is brilliant news for Stefania and Sam. To walk straight out of university into media industry employment is testament to their determination and hard work. LSM is committed to ensuring that as many of our students as possible are highly employable once they complete their course and we’re so pleased that Epix Media has been able to expand its business and provide these opportunities for new graduates from Lincoln. I look forward to see how they progress.”

After an increasingly busy period, which has seen our creative digital media business double its turnover, it proves that Lincoln is a cost-effective base from which to serve customers in the UK and overseas. We’ve benefited from taking part in the national Growth Accelerator Programme and moved into professional offices. We’re based at BG Futures on the Bishop Grosseteste University Campus.

Zoe Easey: Tapping into the University’s emerging pool of talent and taking on interns has been a fantastic way for us to find the right people. We have had great support from the University and it is superb to be able to give local graduates jobs.  Will King: Our business is part of the creative industries sector in Lincoln, which is capturing more and more attention and we are very proud to be helping to grow that. Currently the majority of our work comes from within the East Midlands, but we also have clients in London, Manchester and Brussels and we have done work for customers in South Africa, the Netherlands and California.

Epix is multi-faceted and different parts of the business complement each other, creating confidence for the future.  We network extensively and have benefited from word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied customers. Epix has also tuned into the fact that Lincolnshire has a wealth of small businesses and it has had amazing support from the local business community.  With our rising success and new recruits poised for permanent employment, Epix hopes to add a couple more people to its team within the next two to three years.
