Purpose of the role:
To ease and assist the workload of presenters and producers and to help maintain the smooth running of milkshake!

Key Accountabilities:

First point of contact for a live Children’s morning continuity programme.
Responsible for milkshake and shake correspondence – respond to comments and enquiries from viewers, liaising with internal departments and external companies for information. Deal with the office administration, file birthday dedications and competition entries. Setting up and orchestrating all milkshake and shake on air competitions, liaising with PR companies and negotiating prizes. Scripting competition details to be read on air and to appear on the channel’s website. Taking delivery of and dispatching all prizes to winners. Requesting programme material, viewing forthcoming milkshake and shake programmes and selecting clips and music to be used for promotional purposes. Conducting edits to create clips and promos. Overseeing audio sessions with an Audio Engineer and Voice Over Artist. Suggesting graphics if necessary and working with Graphic Designers.
Assisting with pre-recorded continuity links: giving verbal counts, taking time codes, booking facilities where necessary. Assisting the presenter in the studio: supplying e-mails, birthday cards and material for on-air use.
Operating cameras and using simple graphics and vision mixing techniques, supply technical support during live on-air broadcasts. Keeping the studio tidy at all times. Ensuring that all music cue sheets are completed and delivered to the Music Services Department. Working with and maintaining Broadcast Management Systems. Assisting on all special projects: creating Call Sheets, completing Risk Assessments, working with a film crew, taking time codes, giving hand counts, ensuring transport, props and locations are set up and monitoring programme budgets. Providing creative input into a live Children’s breakfast show: learning about every aspect of television!

Experience & Knowledge:

Demonstrate experience of working effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrate proven organisational skills. An enthusiasm for Children’s television, particularly milkshake!

Competence Requirements:

Good team player
Effective communication skills
Common sense and desire to learn new skills quickly
A willingness to work weekends and early mornings
Bags of energy
Computer literate
Knowledge of new technologies preferable, e.g. editing software, experience of operating cameras and an understanding of sound equipment.
