The University’s first major co-production, A Boatload of Wild Irishmen, is voyaging abroad, touring Canada from this Friday.

Boatload explores the moral complexities of controversial American documentary-maker Robert Flaherty, the man credited with being the father of the modern documentary after he produced and directed Nanook of the North in 1922.

Lincoln’s Professor Brian Winston is the film’s associate producer and writer and colleagues in the School of Media also played important parts in its production.

The Irish version An tÉireannach Fáin / The Wandering Irishman was screened by TG4, the Irish language channel, on 30 December and now the English language version will have its North American premiere at Concordia University in Montréal this Friday. It will be screened at York and Ryerson Universities in Toronto next week.

The film has also been sold to Finnish, Dutch and German television.
