Church Farm Museum

From Sarah Mair, Church Farm Museum, Skegness:

I am running a competition for Church Farm Museum in Skegness to involve young people in making short films. This is taking place now and is due to be complete in early March.

So far 5 young people have produced films and we are looking for another 5 to be made.

We are providing £100 bursaries to cover travel to the Museum and there is a prize of £500 for the winning film. We are also looking for an editor to help edit the young people’s films so if you feel your team may be interested in this as well as or instead of taking part in the competition please let me know. If you would be interested in finding out more please don’t hesitate to contact me at sara@maireducation.com.

Black to Green: Church Farm Short Film Competition

Make a short film and win £500 for your college, school or group!
If you’re aged 16-25 years old, we’re offering you an amazing opportunity to make your own short film about Church Farm Museum in Skegness and win a fantastic prize…

Why should you get involved?

As well as having a go at something new, you may even discover a hidden talent for film-making and the experience will look good on your CV. Plus you can get your hands on a £100 bursary to help make the film and potentially win £500 for your school, college or group!

The films will be uploaded to a website and the winning film will be shown at Church Farm Museum!

You’ll also be invited to a red carpet screening of the films at a local venue to showcase your work.

What does the film have to be about?

Church Farm Museum has lots of interesting objects relating to the rural history of Lincolnshire such as traction engines, ploughs and other farming equipment that is no longer used in agriculture today. We want you to create a short film that looks at the exhibitions and how farming has changed over the years and switched from ‘Black to Green’.

What do you need to do?

Working in small teams you will research, script and produce a short film about an aspect of rural history at Church Farm Museum. The film will then be judged by a panel and the winning film shown at Church Farm Museum. You’ll need to take place in two workshops at Church Farm Museum:

Workshop 1 – You’ll get the chance to have a good old nosey around the museum as you think about the style of film you want to make and aspects of the museum you want to use to tell your story. With top tips from a professional filmmaker we’ll show you how to go about developing your ideas.

Workshop 2 – Lights, camera, action! – We’ll provide the kit and be on hand to help as you shoot your film at the museum.
