Dani Moseley: Update July 2011

Well I’m here let you know about another theatre opportunity where you will get to see me play the character of ‘Anna’ in the play ‘1963: They had a dream’ at The Tabernacle Theatre in Ladbroke Grove on July 20th at 19:30.

Supporting Documentary:

This is another YPTC event that will be showcasing the best young actors and performers in London as we celebrate 10 years of YPTC’s work, combining dynamic songs and dances with filmed pieces to create a counterpoint to three original stage musicals. Exploring themes of prejudice, romance, survival and betrayal, taking you on a journey through the generations. I guarantee you will laugh, cry, be stirred or be affected by the stories told.

1963: Dream, tells the story of a young black Jamaican boy who falls in love with a gangstas daughter and tells the story of love, racism power and respect as well as the story of Jamaican immigrants when they first came to Britain. Those who saw it at The Cochrane Theatre two years ago loved it and I am proud that it will be back in its shorter version for another run. We have gained a huge amount of interest this time round as Jamaica celebrates 50 years of independence next year. Our play starts 1 year after Jamaica’s Independence in 63, so you could say we have made history and told history all in one. With the possibility that the Jamaican High Commissioner will be in attendance at one of our performances and other Jamaican government officials, to say I am excited is an understatement and I want you all to be there to enjoy with me.

Please come and support me and the other actors at YPTC who produce such great quality work and who are really passionate about all the work they do. Aside from me playing Anna in Dream, come see me shake my toosh as a sexy girl dancer (like you’ve never seen me before) in “Flamingo Blues”

This contextual documentary was produced to accompany the musical “1963 They Had A Dream” in April 2009, shown in the foyer of The Cochrane Theatre to the audiences as they arrived.

 The documentary

Narrated by Prunella Scales CBE, this film provides a context to the background of the musical, showing how the history and issues of London informed the show. Exploring the prevalent issues of the musical of immigration, integration and crime, it tracks the changes that society has made in Britain since the 1960s. People who shared stories of their experiences including immigrants and second generation immigrants of various nationalities, notorious gangster “Mad” Frankie Fraser and the YPTC cast and crew whose varied cultural backgrounds provided a rich framework for the documentary.
