Senior Lecturer at Lincoln School of Film & Media Clementine Monro is having a Pop-up installation/ exhibition of her current work at Hackthorn Village Hall in Lincoln. Clem said: It’s a POP UP exhibition, so only on for a very short time. This is keeping in tune with the title of the exhibition called Perpetual Transitions: A Communication Between Photography and Absence Within the Spatial Experience of the Ruin, which is the culmination of my MA by Practice-Based Research in Art. Photography, ruins and spatial experience are all passions of mine. The ruin carries the notion of constant change – perpetual transitions. Here today and gone tomorrow! Latin American Cinema Symposium | 21 Feb at EMMTEC, Lincoln (UK)
Organiser of this research event Sarah Barrow (School of Film & Media, University of Lincoln), with Clara Garavelli (School of Modern Languages, University of Leicester), invite you to a Symposium on Latin American Cinemas:
Me, Myself, and Others: A Cinematic Approach to Latin American Encounters (Part 2) will be held at EMMTEC conference centre, Brayford Campus, University of Lincoln, Lincoln (UK) on 21st February 2015 between 10am & 7pm. This day-long research event, sponsored by the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS), the University of Leicester and the University of Lincoln, brings together scholars who have been working on different projects on the theme of Otherness and Encounters in Latin American Cinema, with practitioners working within and outside the film industry. The day, a follow-up to a similar event held in Leicester in October 2014, will include panel presentations, a film viewing and a video-installation.
Registration fee: £15 (full day, includes all refreshments) | Register now Screening only (4-6pm) is FREE entry and includes introduction and discussion with the director.

Call for Submissions | Top class media work for LUMAS event
Invitation to our creatives from Sarah Barrow, Head of Lincoln School of Film & Media, about the new event LUMAS – Lincoln University Media Arts Showcase. 2013 Grad Jack Howard will be presenting this new event to celebrate success! LUMAS will be on 24th February and is open to our alumni, students and staff.
Please send submissions for this year’s inaugural LUMAS event. We are looking for TOP CLASS MEDIA WORK in any format (audio | photo | short film | digital | radio | animation | script | design) to showcase and to be considered for an award. The deadline’s Monday 9th February at MIDNIGHT!

George Horne, Class of 2010 | Science Museum Film We Engineer
Our 2010 graduate George Horne works as a Creative at LONELYLEAP – a film company with production teams in London and New York. George was the Director and Creative Lead on a film called We Engineer (2014). It was made for the Science Museum for its Engineer Your Future exhibition, which is to encourage young people into engineering and look at relevant careers in this field.
George said: “To be honest the Science Museum has always been one of my favourite places to visit in London, ever since I was a child. So having the opportunity to make a film for one of their major exhibitions was an honour. Within the project I developed and wrote the original proposal that won the tender, then directed the shoots and led the edit and post production stages. Millions of people visit the museum every year, so making a film with that sort of exposure is amazing!” The Science Museum: “the film is aimed at children aged 11 to 14, designed to shine a light on the ingenious, albeit unknown work done by British engineers. Adam Deakin, Class of 2014 | Work at Portrait Salon Exhibition
2014 Contemporary Lens Media graduate Adam Deakin is a creative fashion and portrait photographer. His work has been selected for the 4th Portrait Salon exhibition which kicked off at the Four Corners in London. The print exhibition will be shown across the UK into the new year (dates and venues are below).
Portrait Salon 2014 said: “For the first time, we will be exhibiting prints which have been submitted to and rejected by the Taylor Wessing National Portrait Gallery Photographic Portrait Prize, in an exhibition which will tour the UK. The Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize is one of the most prestigious photography prizes in the world, attracting entrants from professionals and amateurs alike. This year (2014) 4,193 images were submitted by 1,793 photographers, with 60 chosen to be in the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. We seek to show the best of the rest.”
Adam’s selected image, pictured left, was chosen as one of 70 portraits out of 1,184 images. The Portrait Salon 2014 selection was made by Christiane Monarchi (Photomonitor), photographer Martin Usbourne (Hoxton Mini Press) and Emma Taylor (Creative Advice Network).
