Jake Dungworth, LSFM Student | Industry Mentoring Review

I applied for LSFM Industry Mentoring as I thought it would give me an insight into post-university life and help me understand how to progress into a media career.  I was paired with Ben Atkinson-Foster, the Digital Education Developer for the College of Arts and a former media student at the University of Lincoln, who shared his experiences in industry as well as his interests in Radio; of which he produces and presents a specialist music podcast.

I am an avid music fan and DJ with aspirations to work in the events industry as well as on Radio and so Ben was a very ideal person to have been mentored by. Continue reading →

Degree show programme now on line

The School of Media Degree Show 2013 starts at midday on Wednesday 5th June and ends midday on Friday 7th June. The show is open to the public, free of charge, so why not drop in to the school by the pool for a real media treat? You can pick up a programme at the degree show reception desk in the Atrium from 5th June, or to help you plan ahead, Ben Atkinson has produced a web version of the Show programme.

Another Update: LSM’s Radio, Sound & Music Symposium II

This Symposium “was based around the key themes of future directions & opportunities in the radio and music industries” said Organiser and LSM’s Principal Lecturer Bryan Rudd.  The event certainly hit its aims as you’ll see when you read Bryan’s super summary of the day.  

SeanSean Strange is a third year student at the Lincoln School of Media.  He found time in the run up to his finals to capture the LSM’s Radio, Sound & Music Symposium II at the start of this month.  See Sean’s images in the slideshow, below. Thanks, Sean!  Another piece to add to your growing portfolio of work perhaps?  Please do keep us posted on how you’re doing when you graduate.

Radio, Sound & Music Symposium II – Book Now!

This all day student event will be on 1st May 2013 from 10am in the Architecture Building, ARM201.  With a fantastic line up of radio experts, creatives and music specialists, including a panel of our graduates working in the industry you’ll need to book your place now!

Bryan_RuddRadio, Sound & Music Symposium II organiser Bryan Rudd said this free event “is aimed specifically at students studying Radio and Audio; however, all students from the Lincoln School of Media are welcome. There are a limited number of places so you must book early to be sure of attending. To book your place at the event, you must contact Rosaline Smith in the School office, rosmith@lincoln.ac.uk and provide your name, course/year information and a contact number.”

As soon as I graduated in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Media Production I applied for a Master in Historical Studies at the University of Lincoln. I have always been passionate about History and it is my dream job to produce Historical documentaries. By doing this course I have been able to develop my skills which will be important for creating documentaries and other historical products. Since graduating I have gained experience working with the BBC on their BBC 2 show Flog It! This has provided me with valuable experience and has presented possible networking opportunities for when I finish my Masters course.
