Today is the official launch of the ‘Save Television Centre Studios’ campaign. It aims to halt demolishing five of the UK’s working studios. Chris Hainstock, LSM’s Senior Lecturer, has been party to the press launch:
The campaign has been set up by a group of TV industry veterans – directors, producers, sound engineers, technicians, crew and many others from all walks of television production – who all feel passionately about the demolition of not only some of the best working TV studios in the country, but the destruction of such an iconic and magical place to work. Stars including Esther Rantzen, David Jason, Richard Wilson, Al Murray, Charlie Brooker and Michael Parkinson are backing the campaign. Continue reading

These first months have been the busiest of my life – but I have learnt from them every single day.
Having graduated from the BA (Hons) Media Production course, I was awaiting response from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) after interviewing for their PgDip Sound Design For The Theatre course, which was brand new this year, and listed a maximum of three places available in the prospectus. As soon as I graduated in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Media Production I applied for a Master in Historical Studies at the University of Lincoln. I have always been passionate about History and it is my dream job to produce Historical documentaries. By doing this course I have been able to develop my skills which will be important for creating documentaries and other historical products. Since graduating I have gained experience working with the BBC on their BBC 2 show Flog It! This has provided me with valuable experience and has presented possible networking opportunities for when I finish my Masters course.
The BBC is launching a talent show to find a new presenter for Blue Peter.
CBBC’s Dick and Dom will host the search for someone to join the present team of Barney Harwood and Helen Skelton. Contenders will have to win their way through a series of challenges to reach the final, where the winners will be chosen by CBBC’s audience.
