LSM’s Senior Academic Subject Librarian Faye Cleminson wanted to flag this job opportunity to our graduating students or recent alumni interested in a 12-month fixed paid internship. The University of Lincoln’s new Library Events and Media Intern “will work closely with staff from the Academic Subject Librarian and Customer Services teams to develop and deliver a variety of events and media content, designed to increase students’ awareness and use of the Library and its services.” The closing date is 15 June 2014. University of Lincoln’s Alumni Weekend | 13 -15 June 2014 | Book!

Our graduates should have got an invite to the very first Alumni Weekend.

It’s for all University of Lincoln’s alumni as well as their family and friends, too. That includes YOU if you graduated from one of the University of Lincoln’s former institutions – University of Humberside, Humberside College of Higher Education and the Lincoln School of Art. Events are free, but some are limited due to demand. So best to book!

The alumni team is compiling a playlist for the Alumni Weekend and would like to know “What song takes you back to your Uni days? See LSM alumni favs from TomSka and Daniel J. Layton.

LSM Showcase | Final Day | MHT Building | University of Lincoln

What’s on at the Lincoln School of Media’s degree show called LSM Showcase? See this visual programme, which will help you to find final year students’ work in the MHT Building on the Brayford Pool campus at the University of Lincoln. The video was created by LSM students Emily Cowlishaw, Catherine Chibnall, with thanks to Alex O’Brien and Rachel Dodds and music by students in Audio Production and Media Production.

THIS evening the LSM Showcase is still going strong, ahead of another day tomorrow, and you’re invited to network in the EMMTEC Lecture Theatre. Have you got just a minute? With a busy time at the Lincoln School of Media, it’s nice to take time to reflect over the Bank Holiday. So we thought it’d be lovely to share LSM’s collection on broadcast legend Nicholas Parsons CBE. This month he gave a talk at the ‘Great Minds’ Lecture, which was in association with LSM, about The English Language and the Spoken Word.

Come along to the Lincoln School of Media’s end of year degree show. See the next generation of creatives’ work in the MHT building from noon on Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th May. The SoundSpiral will be unmissable! It is an audio interactive inflatable space. A printed programme of all the events will be available from the degree show’s reception desk in the Atrium.

The student team at LSM Showcase said: “Twenty years ago the Lincoln School of Media began the first Media Production degree in the UK. Today it’s still going strong producing some of the best talent in the country, and that’s what we want to celebrate. 1-day International Colloquium on Drone Culture | 24th May 2014

Lincoln School of Media Lecturer Dr. Rob Coley has organised the international one day colloquium, hosted by the 21^st Century Research Group at the University of Lincoln. THIS SATURDAY distinguished speakers from around the world will gather on-campus in EMMTEC to explore prominent issues surrounding ‘drone culture’. Join academics, writers, performers and artists from across the globe to discuss the social and conceptual implications of unmanned aircraft.

Rob said: “We will explore issues of local importance as well as of global concern, and presentations at our colloquium may also address the use of the drone in farming, in journalism, and in marketing gimmicks by the likes of Amazon. The event will deal with the idea of ‘drone culture’ more broadly, touching on films, contemporary art, video games and, of course, the drone as a musical form. We are particularly excited to have two fantastic keynote speakers who will address these wide-ranging issues, including how remote visualisation changes our perception of space and geography, and how the drone could be a symptom of a changing relationship between humans and machines.” Continue reading →
