Perseverance Pays off for Promising Producer Graduate

ERIKA BUTCHER graduated in 2011, with a Degree in Media Production and a prize for best student in a producer role.

Erika, said in 2011
“I originally worked in a theatre, but moved over to admin to pay bills. I tried to get back into the creative side of things, but it was so difficult without prior film experience. I came to University to further my career.”

Golden fables 2012

Four LSM graduates are key members of the team creating a film record of a major new stage work about Lincolnshire. The film premiere is at the Drill Hall in Lincoln on Tuesday July 3. Tickets are £5 (£4 concessions) from the box office on 01522 873894. Later it moves on to Stamford, Gainsborough, Sleaford, Hemswell, Grantham, Leasingham and Spalding.

“Boatload” wins BUFVC Award

“A Boatload of Wild Irishmen” won a ‘Special Jury Award’ in the annual BUFVC Learning on Screen Awards 2012:

The film was written by Brian Winston and edited by Chris Hainstock. It explores the moral complexities of controversial American documentary-maker Robert Flaherty, the man credited with being the father of the modern documentary after he produced and directed Nanook of the North in 1922.

[This year’s] survey of the ‘Destination for Leavers from HE’ ends this Friday. We did extremely well last year with 96% of graduates who responded reporting as in employment and over 70% in graduate level employment (in top 3 of Media courses in UK).

“Hundreds of happy-go-lucky potential students walking around the university of Lincoln all day, filming every second of it and distributing it to thousands more potential students each.”

The organising team could do with more help, particularly from Lincoln-based people.
