Becca Weaver, class of 2010

“You have to have a lot of determination. If this is the industry you want to be in, then don’t give up. It may take years, but if you’re passionate, it’ll show through.”

After handing in my final assignment in 2010, I only stayed at Lincoln for another month. I was tempted to stay longer of course and make use of the University’s equipment and try to delay the realisation that my student life was over, but I was pretty confident that I was going to get a job in London, or at least an internship quite quickly. How hard can that be, I thought. After an intense final year to complete a 50 minute television drama on a student budget, I thought I was prepared for anything. Looking back now, I was unbelievably naïve.

Laura Payne, class of 2010

In September 2010 I graduated with a 2:1 in Media Production. In the midst of rising graduate unemployment, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get a job in television. Little did I know that a year later I would achieve my first TV Credits as ‘Offline Editor’ for a new children’s TV series: Cartoonito Tales.

Tom Mallion update

Spotted on Twitter:

Not content with becoming a BT Storyteller for the London Olympics, cycling around the UK and hitting the national press headlines, it turns out that Tom went to the BT BOA Ball in October and made a film about it, which he has just posted on YouTube:

Trademark Productions

Where do you get the energy Tom?

Becky Tompkins Update

Becky Tompkins

After my job as an editor at Isis Media came to an end I got a job at Sky and moved to London.

I’ve been working as an Edit Co-ordinator in Compliance for the last 8 months but I’ve just got a promotion to ‘Editorial Compliance Executive’, which is a permanent job. Moving to London was a huge lifestyle change for me but now I’ve settled in I’m loving it and have managed to move up the career ladder pretty quickly. Looks like I’ll be staying down here for a quite while.

Darren Scales Update

Hi there, Daz Scales here from Backyard Productions, a fan film group from the UK.  I also graduated with Masters in Media Production thanks to the University of Lincoln.

You might be interested to know that I am producing a series of video diaries of the production process. As well as detailing the progress I also pass on my ‘wisdom’ of making films for free (well almost free).
