Frequency Festival 2013 – recruiting now!

Frequency festival is a digital arts festival based in Lincoln. Some of you may have already seen the posters around campus. Frequency showcases international and local work from artists who use digital tools and new media. The festival integrates art into Lincoln’s landscape in the form of installations, projections, site-specific work and live performances. More information

LSM student Ami Petch has joined Electric Egg as a full-time production and post-production intern after completing her Media Production BA(hons) studies. Ami joins founding directors Neil Baker and Steven Hatton as Electric Egg’s first full-time employee. LSM New Media Social Enterprise

The Lincoln School of Media is setting up a New Media Social Enterprise to enable LSM students to work collaboratively with local businesses, organisations, charities, schools and community groups to provide them with media support and you with networking opportunities, creative commissions and the chance to develop your business skills. This Social Enterprise is being co-ordinated by LSM graduate of MA Digital Imaging and Photography Hazel Donnelly. Hazel will oversee logistical, financial, H&S, ethical and IP issues. THE GEMINI PROJECT is the first project for our Social Enterprise and we need two fantastic students to get on board really soon. Internship Bill Fails

Hazel Blears’ Internship Bill failed to be get a second reading in parliament last week.  Sabina Usher writes in the Independent “It was (an) important step in the campaign to stop unpaid internships and demonstrate that asking young people to work for free is unacceptable, and not to mention potentially illegal under national minimum wage law. While it wouldn’t have totally eradicated the practice, the Bill would have reduced these internships’ number and visibility and begun the process of necessary cultural change.”

The BBC is launching a talent show to find a new presenter for Blue Peter.

CBBC’s Dick and Dom will host the search for someone to join the present team of Barney Harwood and Helen Skelton. Contenders will have to win their way through a series of challenges to reach the final, where the winners will be chosen by CBBC’s audience.

1 x Graduate Intern (Registrar’s Office): A 12 month contract working primarily within the Registrar’s Office, Secretariat and Health and Safety.
11 x Graduate Intern (Student Affairs): 6 month contracts working primarily within the Student Administration and Admission teams.
In addition the following posts will be advertised in the near future: 2 x Student Support Internships.These are 12 month contracts working within the Advice Service/ Student Funding term.
