Rosie Turner, Class of 2015 | BBC CBeebies Content Producer

RosieTurner-WebsiteHello! I’m Rosie and I graduated in 2015 with a BA (Hons) in Media Production. I work for BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC as a Content Producer for CBeebies. My role involves managing the social media for pre school shows Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Sarah & Duck. As an online producer my role could be anything from coming up with new ideas for videos to promote magazines and toys to collaborating with the Children’s department in Manchester, attending brand partner meetings and even researching Christmas cakes designs!

I’m really excited to have joined the BBC after working for 18 months at a social media agency in East London on projects for Red Bull, MTV and CBBC. This role has allowed me to use the skills I’ve already gained in Children’s television to create exciting and inspirational content for families, parents/guardians and teachers! In my last year of university I wrote my dissertation on ‘Bringing The Children Out To Play’ a study on the relationship between Children’s online/broadcast media and the outdoors. I love spending time in nature and in my spare time I’ve been working on my own project called ‘The Urban Backpacker.’ Continue reading

Aleysha Minns, Class of 2013 | Pinewood Studios & BAFTA Crew

AleyshaMinns_2016As September has come and gone again, seeing my 3rd LSFM media mentee with her graduation photos, it just reminds me of how long ago 2013 feels. The past 3 years have been a bit of a rollercoaster, with the past 12 months being some of the most difficult but incredible of my career so far.

The last half of 2015 was tough, finding work was a nightmare and I was ready to give up on the whole thing. That was until February of this year, when I got to live out my childhood dream of working at Pinewood Studios on my first big budget film, taking the leap from Production to the Locations/Studio department as a trainee. Confidentiality surrounding these types of films mean I can’t say anything about it until release, but I spent up until August there and has been the lift that I needed. Since then I’ve been working on commercials and have been accepted into BAFTA Crew 2016, which is a huge honour and made it on to the list on my 2nd attempt. To top off the year, Beautiful Devils (2015) premièred at Cannes Film Festival to a great reception and my first ever film credit on ID2:Shadwell Army (2016) recently came out in cinemas and DVD. Tom Nicholls, LSFM | University of Lincoln Alumni Event, London

TomNicholls-Charlotte Cummins+Rosie Turner-alumnieventI recently attended the University of Lincoln alumni event at the National Liberal Club in London. I must admit to some anxiety as to whether I would recognise alumni from years ago. No problem, Charlotte Cummins – Class of 2006, Media Production (pictured on the left) – recognised me first and though I could not remember her name immediately, I did remember teaching her.

The event was kicked off by a speech by Mary Stuart, Vice-Chancellor welcoming us all and mentioning Rosie Turner – Class of 2015, Media Production (pictured on the right with Charlotte) – as one of the most recent alumni present.

This was followed by a brief description of his post-Lincoln career by Sebastian Cox (BA Furniture 2009, MA Design 2011). Sebastian started a furniture business in rural Lincolnshire on graduating and has now moved to London with a staff of 5.

Once I had gathered together the LSFM 4. We talked about Lincoln then and now. Continue reading

Alumni Q&A session | LSFM Creative Enterprise module

Love our graduates back on-campus to share experiences and connect with our students from our annual network event Meet the Graduates (2nd November 2016) to teaching modules. TODAY half a dozen alumni will join our final year students in the Creative Enterprise session and module co-ordinator Zara Healy said: we welcome 6 of our graduates who are all working in multimedia roles. They have all graduated within the last 5 years from LSFM – some are freelance, some are employed full-time and at least 3 have set up their own creative industry companies. The one and a half hour session will be a Question and Answer about how this module’s assessment – pitch and paperwork – has helped graduates in their own pitches, how to develop ideas and present them to help them in their roles in the Media industry.

GemmaLowe_2Gemma Lowe | Class of  2012 & LSFM Industry Mentor: I currently work as Press and Media Content Officer for the Lincoln College Group, producing multimedia and written content for a wide range of marketing purposes and managing digital communication projects and social media across Lincoln, Newark and Gainsborough Colleges.

Dani Moseley, Class of 2007 | BBC TV Doctors. BUFF Award & more..

DaniMoseley-Doctors-2pics_2016WOW! My last update was June 2015. A lot has happened since then – I am an LSFM Industry mentor, and you can see my character Carly Fisher in BBC One’s Doctors THIS Thursday at 1.45. But I’m just going to do a quick overview as, looking back, I write too much lol. It’s the writer in me. The Forty Elephants film script got put into The British Urban Film Festival and Ch4 and we won BUFF Live Script Reading award (for 2015). Who’d have thought my first award would be for writing?

DaniMoseley-capture-2016I did another subjectivity event where I had to write 3 monologues to do with ‘youth and the criminal justice system.’ Where the audience was a jury and had to decide whether the young person deserved to go down or not. We had a panel of experts (lawyers and those working in the justice system) to clarify what the real verdict would be and it all happened at The Royal Festival Hall, Southbank. The monologues and acting were received so well – some people were crying thinking they were real cases, which for me as a writer was brilliant especially as they rhymed, yet still seen as that actor truth. Powerful!  The Forty Elephants was then put on at the Tavistock and POP Brixton and it went down a storm. They were my last performances and involvement with the play and Hiype productions. I have since parted ways, wanting to pursue other projects and go to LA, which has been the focus of 2016. On New Year’s Eve I sat down around a table, with two of my best friends with a notepad, pen and a glass of wine and we wrote our goals for 2016! Hannah Wilson, Class of 2012 | Designer at Grazia Magazine

HannahWilson_2003GradI can’t quite believe that I moved to Lincoln to start my degree just over 6 years ago now, and that I’ve had a full time job in London for over three!  I studied Contemporary Lens Media, now BA (Hons) Photography, at Lincoln, and can honestly say I wouldn’t have the job I do today without my degree from the university; not only because of the skills that I learnt whilst studying, or even just having the title on my CV, but the fact that it gave me three years of uninterrupted time to build a solid portfolio that I could proudly take to interview with prospective employers. Our lecturers used to tell us to treasure the time, because rarely would we ever have as much time to invest in making work again. How right they were!

I currently work at Grazia magazine in London. My role is on the the art desk, designing pages for the magazine and editing images to choose the best ones to send to print each week. Continue reading
