What links LSM with Woodhall Spa, Milan and Missing Gnomes?

Answer is Colin Reiners, our Principal Lecturer in Media Production!

ColinReiners_WoodhallSpa_2You see he lives in Woodhall Spa and Colin’s creative images of rural Lincolnshire life formed a photographic tour, which is being showcased throughout Italy. His exhibition ‘Gnome Thieves Attack Woodhall Spa’ started last year in Pontremoli, continued with a successful tour around Italy to Milan. Colin said: “The opening attracted people from as far away as Florence, and even a bemused visitor from Boston, Lincolnshire!” Unsurprisingly (this week when the exhibition comes to a close but has been on track in Milan’s railway!) missing gnomes and Colin’s images that captured Woodhall Spa’s community are still hitting headlines abroad and in Colin’s home patch.

From Horncastle News: A missing garden gnome is raising the profile of a Lincolnshire village in a city over 1,000 miles away.  Continue reading

Award Winning Andrew West: Update from the Houses of Parliament

Andrew West copyright 2012

Winning the ICS photography competition and having my photography exhibited at the Houses of Parliament was a bonus! Travelling to Honduras and working with the human rights organisation Jóvenes Liderando Cambios and Progressio as part of the ICS scheme was fantastic, in 3 months I gained so much experience.

It was great to get the chance to explain more about my experiences to MPs. Presenting our work in the Houses of Parliament felt like a great achievement.  Here’s a short teaser I produced and an extract from my speech on 8th October 2013:  Continue reading

LSM’s Media Production final year student Andrew West participated in the International Citizen Service (ICS) programme this summer in Honduras and entered its photography competition and won the ‘Civic Participation’ category. Andy’s going to the Houses of Parliament tomorrow to have his photo exhibited with the other winners and has been asked to make a speech in front of the MPs!

Andrew’s winning image was the Feria Day and women’s football tournament in the Lenca community, Los Encinos in Honduras. The photo belongs to Andrew G West and all rights are reserved.

PhotoVoice said: “A perfect example of a moment captured that tells a whole story.” The prize-winning photo and the rest of Andrew’s portfolio can be found here.

Sean Strange is a staff photographer at the Imperial War Museum

Sean StrangeI’ve just been offered the opportunity to start work as a staff photographer for the Imperial War Museum and in particular the Duxford branch. Therefore my job is to mainly cover the Aviation aspect, as well as visitors and attractions within the museum. I will be working under the eyes of Richard Bayford who is head of visual resources and the photographer Richard Ash who produces the main bulk of the material for the IWM. This is a great new start for me and one I’m particularly looking forward to and something I’m very interested in taking to new levels.

Well done Sean and keep us posted in your photographic passion. Here’s Sean’s photographic portfolio for you to peruse.
