LSM student Ami Petch has joined Electric Egg as a full-time production and post-production intern after completing her Media Production BA(hons) studies. Ami joins founding directors Neil Baker and Steven Hatton as Electric Egg’s first full-time employee. Level 3 student Katie Harris responded to a call for applicants to work as runners on Dragon’s Den, but wound up working last summer on BBC2 programme The Planners, due to be aired on Thursday 31st January at 8pm (Northern Ireland only!) If you can, watch out for her runner credit.

Alumni post produce heritage film

Recent LSM graduates, Warren Hayward, James Martin, Gideon Marriott and Leanne Bacon had some valuable work experience contributing to the post production of ‘The Forty’, a film made by  Lecturer Dan Frodsham. The film charts the painstaking work of conserving an exquisite Renaissance fresco in Famagusta, Cyprus. Dan sent us an update on the film’s success:

Follow JordanI did wonder why LSM graduate Jordan Livermore left his first job in 3D film, to launch himself as a runner. I‘m beginning to understand now, having gone along to “Meet the Freelancers”, an event suggested and organised by Jordan, hosted by the LSM.

LSM graduate to run Festival of Japanese Culture

Two of us here are University of Lincoln graduates (including myself – I did a BA in Media Production, graduating in 2003) and we thought our latest endeavour might interest current students.

We’re putting on a Festival of Japanese Culture in Lincoln on January 21-27th 2013. It will include an art exhibition running through the week at Cafe Portico and on Sunday 27th at The Venue in Bishop Grosseteste University there will be a host of activities surrounding the screening of 2 classic Japanese films – Akira and Pigs and Battleships. We’ve got a martial arts demonstration, a musical performance, food and drink and a talk preceding Pigs and Battleships by Jasper Sharp, an expert in Japanese cinema. Continue reading
