Animation Degree Show, LSFM | 1st June 2016 at 1pm in LPAC

AnimationDegreeShow_1June2016Here’s your invitation to the ANIMATION DEGREE SHOW 2016.  Doors will open at 12.30 on Wednesday 1st June at University of Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC), Brayford Pool, LN6 7TS.  The show’s free and all are welcome.

Join us for the show at 1pm in LPAC and see a showcase of stunning students’ work on the BA (Hons) Animation course at the Lincoln School of Film & Media. For about a couple of hours there’ll be screenings and a short session for awards. The Animation Degree Show will be a lovely way to celebrate end of year work and meet the animators.

LSFM Degree Show 2016 | Lincoln Theatre Royal on 14th & 15th May

LSFMdegreeshow2016_logo_400x400University of Lincoln School of Film and Media final year students will showcase their creative work at the Lincoln Theatre Royal THIS weekend, and YOU are invited. It is the first time the historic city venue has staged a two-day multimedia exhibition by third year undergraduates and it is the first time the annual event is off-campus. The LSFM Degree Show is an opportunity for the public to see original, experimental and creative content in the Grade II listed theatre: from pop-up spaces like the Writers’ Room and take part in script reading to dressing rooms transformed into individual cinema booths. Screenings will be in the 450-seat Victorian auditorium, also above and below the stage will be design and digital exhibitions. Even the bar will turn into a gallery and backstage a sound and radio installation space. The LSFM Degree Show is FREE and open to the public on Saturday 11am-7pm & Sunday 11am-4pm. Wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor and some content may not be suitable for children. The Forecast (2015) at Cannes | By LSFM Grads, Staff & Students

TheForecast_PhilStevensCongrats! The Forecast (2015) will be at the Cannes Film Festival, 16th-22nd May 2016, Short Film Corner. The film produced by Urban Apache Films was written by 2010 alumni Philip Stevens and Stewart MacGregor. The short has been screened at the London Short Film Festival, Kinofilm Film Festival and it’ll be at the new international IndieLincs Film Festival on 11th and 12th March. Indie-Lincs was established by the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media to champion low budget filmmakers and there will be over 30 shorts screened at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre.

The film was directed by Phil Stevens, who works part-time as a lecturer at the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media. Head of LSFM Dr Sarah Barrow said: Almost everyone on the production team was a member of staff or graduate, and some were LSFM students at the time the film was made last year. Continue reading

International Indie-Lincs Film Festival | Tickets 11 & 12 March

Indie-Lincs-Film-FestivalNews about a NEW international film festival called Indie-Lincs from the Uni’s PR Officer Rob Wildman: Indie-Lincs was established by the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media to showcase the talents of original and creative filmmakers operating on low budgets, including media students from across the UK and overseas. Screenings and awards will take place on the 11th and 12th March 2016.  Indie-Lincs Film Fest Director is LSFM Lecturer in Film Production Dr Mikey Murray:  We have been delighted by the response to our new festival and we are screening over 30 films from all over the world. We genuinely hope that the local community will get behind us and come down to join in.

Evening of Extra-Sonic Performances | 4 March, Lincoln

ESP_PosterThe Extra-sonic Practice research group invites you to ESP#1: An Evening of Extra-sonic Performances THIS FRIDAY from 7.00pm to 9.30pm at St Mary Le Wigford Church, Lincoln.

Extra Sonic Practice (ESP) is a group of scholars and artists from the University of Lincoln who work with sound in multiple contexts and configurations. Playfully and knowingly (re)appropriating the abbreviation from its origin – Extra Sensory Perception – ESP is a response to the growing prevalence of sound within various disciplinary contexts.

Friday 4th March will feature performances by: David McSherry | Stewart Collinson + Duncan Chapman | Annie Morrad + Ian Mcarthur | Plus Low Quality Sound Snapshots by Marie Thompson and film by Annexinema co- directors Ian Nesbitt and Emily Wilczeck.

LUMAS 2016 Awards | University of Lincoln Media Arts Showcase

Here’s a round up about the School’s annual showcase and awards ceremony, held on 23rd February, LUMAS 2016.  It was organised by the committee at Lincoln School of Film & Media, led and hosted by our 2015 Graduate events assistant Richard Rumble. Luma St. (2013) | Film Fest Screenings

Luma_St_picA quick update about Luma St. (2013) from LSFM Senior Lecturer Sultan EfeThe animation was made by our former students who worked collaboratively during their degree courses from animation to audio production. The creative team, 2014 graduates Daniel Escobar, Alex Kirkwood, Alexander Stokes, Samuel Brierley, Adam Horsepool and music/sound by Nathan James Lewis, is making a global name for Luma St. in festivals (again!). 

Luma St. has been at this month’s Silk Road Film Festival in Dublin.  It will be at the 10th ATHENS ANIMFEST (26 March – 1 April 2015) showing this Thursday.

Latin American Cinema Symposium | 21 Feb at EMMTEC, Lincoln (UK)

Organiser of this research event Sarah Barrow (School of Film & Media, University of Lincoln), with Clara Garavelli (School of Modern Languages, University of Leicester), invite you to a Symposium on Latin American Cinemas:

Head for the EMMTEC Building for the receptionMe, Myself, and Others: A Cinematic Approach to Latin American Encounters (Part 2) will be held at EMMTEC conference centre, Brayford Campus, University of Lincoln, Lincoln (UK) on 21st February 2015 between 10am & 7pm.  This day-long research event, sponsored by the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS), the University of Leicester and the University of Lincoln, brings together scholars who have been working on different projects on the theme of Otherness and Encounters in Latin American Cinema, with practitioners working within and outside the film industry. The day, a follow-up to a similar event held in Leicester in October 2014, will include panel presentations, a film viewing and a video-installation.

Registration fee: £15 (full day, includes all refreshments)  | Register now Screening only (4-6pm) is FREE entry and includes introduction and discussion with the director.
