‘Our Lincolnshire’ New App | Choose your heritage objects
Choose your Lincolnshire heritage objects, from the Lincoln Imp Brooch to Skegness Model Village, with a new App to help a research project at the University of Lincoln. The team said: selections on ‘My Lincolnshire Collection’ web-app will form part of Our Lincolnshire project’s report, which will gauge people’s perceptions of heritage – what is important to them and what it means to them.
The Our Lincolnshire project team, led by Professors Carenza Lewis and Matthew Cragoe, have now launched ‘My Lincolnshire Collection’, a creative web-app that provides a panel of 100 photographs of interesting and unusual heritage objects from around Lincolnshire, and asks you to create a collection of up to 10 of your favourites. Each object is represented by a photograph and an informative description to help you make your choices, and can be dragged from the panel on 100 into a selection bar at the top of the page. Liam Juniper, Class of 2011 | Contracts BBC Studio Manager, Audio
Thanks to our 2011 graduate Liam Juniper who works at MediaCity in Salford as a BBC Studio Director, News Group Production Operations (Audio Group), about Studio Manager jobs in audio. These roles will provide technical operation, alongside Studio Directors, for a range of News and Sport output – broadcast in the UK and across the World. Closing date 20th March 2016. Liam said: We’re in the process of recruiting some Studio Managers to help out with a busy summer in London and Salford. These aren’t trainee posts so the applicants will need to have some experience of being involved in live radio, if successful the applicants will be offered a 10-month fixed term contract. Michael Henry, Class of 2009 | Official Trailer ‘MUTE’ (2016)
Independent filmmaker, who is one of our inspirational LSFM Industry Mentors, 2009 alumnus Michael Henry has posted an update on the latest development at Quandary Productions.
We’ve recently released the official trailer to our latest feature film ‘MUTE’, written and directed by me, and here’s the synopsis: Verbal communication has been outlawed by the rich elite, in an attempt to stop people speaking out against the conditions they live in. The new laws are enforced by the security department of the ‘Spectrum’ corporation – a huge conglomerate of the five biggest companies in the world. A voyeuristic filmmaker falls in love with an underground spoken word artist. As they find themselves unable to talk to one another, they start to make small films and write letters to one another. As the poet speaks out against ‘Spectrum’ and its owners, their lives become in danger. Will they be able to save each other in time?
To be released May of this year, on various platforms, including 4k Ultra HD, we’ll be looking to make this a huge hit at festivals around the world. Continue reading
PAID Internship, Blueprint: Film | 2014 or 2015 Grad Opportunity
This is a fabulous paid internship if you’re a University of Lincoln 2014 or 2015 graduate to work on a range of creative projects with multi-award winning production company Blueprint: Film. It is a full-time position based in its Lincoln studio with flexible working hours to start in April 2016. The intern will have a range of media and office skills: researching; live sports web streaming/ webcasting, including the basics of vision mixing and camera and audio set-up (further training will be provided); and a knowledge of Final Cut Pro X and/or Adobe Creative Cloud would be useful. You MUST have a valid driver’s licence and a vehicle because one of the largest projects the intern will work on will be a series of community cinema events across Lincolnshire. The job includes travelling to different locations and working alone, so it is important that you are confident working on your own.

The Forecast (2015) at Cannes | By LSFM Grads, Staff & Students
Congrats! The Forecast (2015) will be at the Cannes Film Festival, 16th-22nd May 2016, Short Film Corner. The film produced by Urban Apache Films was written by 2010 alumni Philip Stevens and Stewart MacGregor. The short has been screened at the London Short Film Festival, Kinofilm Film Festival and it’ll be at the new international IndieLincs Film Festival on 11th and 12th March. Indie-Lincs was established by the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media to champion low budget filmmakers and there will be over 30 shorts screened at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre.
The film was directed by Phil Stevens, who works part-time as a lecturer at the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media. Head of LSFM Dr Sarah Barrow said: Almost everyone on the production team was a member of staff or graduate, and some were LSFM students at the time the film was made last year. Continue reading
International Indie-Lincs Film Festival | Tickets 11 & 12 March
News about a NEW international film festival called Indie-Lincs from the Uni’s PR Officer Rob Wildman: Indie-Lincs was established by the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media to showcase the talents of original and creative filmmakers operating on low budgets, including media students from across the UK and overseas. Screenings and awards will take place on the 11th and 12th March 2016. Indie-Lincs Film Fest Director is LSFM Lecturer in Film Production Dr Mikey Murray: We have been delighted by the response to our new festival and we are screening over 30 films from all over the world. We genuinely hope that the local community will get behind us and come down to join in.

The Extra-sonic Practice research group invites you to ESP#1: An Evening of Extra-sonic Performances THIS FRIDAY from 7.00pm to 9.30pm at St Mary Le Wigford Church, Lincoln.
Extra Sonic Practice (ESP) is a group of scholars and artists from the University of Lincoln who work with sound in multiple contexts and configurations. Playfully and knowingly (re)appropriating the abbreviation from its origin – Extra Sensory Perception – ESP is a response to the growing prevalence of sound within various disciplinary contexts.
Friday 4th March will feature performances by: David McSherry | Stewart Collinson + Duncan Chapman | Annie Morrad + Ian Mcarthur | Plus Low Quality Sound Snapshots by Marie Thompson and film by Annexinema co- directors Ian Nesbitt and Emily Wilczeck.

It was organised by the committee at Lincoln School of Film & Media, led and hosted by our 2015 Graduate events assistant Richard Rumble. The glittering black tie evening included screenings of short films, photography, audio work, and animations by students and graduates. Sarah Barrow, Head of the School of Film and Media, said: “As seen through the submissions, showreels and displays at the event, the LUMAS is a fantastic celebration of student creativity, teamwork and achievement, as well as the way staff and students worked together to make the showcase happen.

Lincoln School of Film & Media and the University’s Careers & Enterprise have posted a PAID 4-month (April-July) job opportunity from the Forestry Commission. ‘Forest Live‘ Marketing Support promote the Forestry Commission’s programme of concerts this summer – covering Dalby Forest (Yorkshire) and Sherwood Pines Forest (Nottinghamshire). The successful applicant, based in Yorshire, will be promoting Guy Garvey, John Newman, Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott and the Kaiser Chiefs amongst others. You will focus on digital marketing and local marketing through businesses close to the forests in order to increase sales and awareness of the programme.
